Nervous Dog - Fairlawn

Hey there, welcome in! You may have already guessed based on this post’s title, but we’re talking about Nervous Dog again! This time, we decided to visit the Fairlawn location, conveniently located next to the major grocery and shopping centers in downtown Fairlawn. We’ve found that even coffee shops from the same chain (like Crimson Cup) find a way to create their own unique experience in different locations.

Coming into the shop for the first time, you’d probably expect to find the game playing with a few old timers sitting at the bar waxing about the “good ole’ days”. Put another way; the shop gives off dark, grunge bar vibes. Jason used to work as a waiter at a similar place, so he felt right at home. The overall decor was similar to Nervous Dog’s other location , but still distinct enough that you felt like you were at a new place. We went on a weekday morning and it was pretty busy. A mixture of people working at the table and people on their way to work looking to grab a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich to go.

Similar to their other location, they offer a variety of breakfast sandwiches, including vegan sandwiches, as well as seasonal pasties. Was there a mug alert? Yes! Beautiful, thick-walled latte mugs were atop the espresso machine, whose color matched the overall aesthetic.

Today, Kali got a cold brew with oat milk and pumpkin. The perfect blend of coffee and fall without being too sweet. Jason got (no surprises here) his usual cortado (see his previous review here!). Something should be said about shops that can maintain consistency, even at separate locations. This is partly why Starbucks does so well, we think; they made a consistent experience at every one of their locations. Where Nervous Dog differentiates itself, though, is that it’s able to maintain this consistency while still expressing its own individuality. If you’re in the Fairlawn area, we hope you’ll consider stopping
