Artisan Coffee

Welcome in! Throughout our Beanventures, we’ve come to associate coffee shops with a particular style; hipster, artistic, grungy, and with just a touch of academic university vibes. Makes sense, of course, as coffee shops have long been considered homes for intellectual thoughts and debates (and even the Headquarters of the American Revolution). That being said, no two shops are alike (even chains like Muggswigz and Crimson Cup), and they all bring their one unique style to the world for you to enjoy your drink in. The shop we’re talking about today, Artisan Coffee, brings a fresh farm-house vibe that is just as cozy to catch up with family or enjoy a private work space.

This bright, inviting, and warm space almost makes you feel more like you’re in someone’s home than in a restaurant. We say almost, because you’re quickly met with a massive coffee bar wrapped in beautiful hardwood. Everything from the chairs and tables to the menus have a unique cozy style to them that is just so inviting! The shop offers a flexible experience as well, as it’s divided into different sections to hang out in: a large space with multiple tables, chairs, and a mini stage for live music (perfect for large family and friend hangouts), a smaller space surrounding a stone fireplace off to the side (wonderfully romantic for dates), a few tables and chairs along the side wall (with numerous outlets for working).

We went on a Friday morning, around the time people usually start work, and were thrilled to see it was packed! Multiple families and friends, as well as a few remote workers, were gathered around enjoying their coffees, pastries, and breakfast items.

Speaking of coffee, they offered the drink brewed in several different ways (from french press to nitro cold brew), as well as espresso and specialty drinks. Was there a mug alert? No, but Kali did appreciate the colorful paper cups! Since it was the morning, Jason decided to order some breakfast; a savory breakfast bagel reminiscent of typical cafe eating.

Enough stalling; how was the coffee? Kali got a medium roast coffee with oat milk and (dun dun dun daaaa) pumpkin. She typically likes her coffee drinks to be lighter on the sweetness to help complement the drink rather than upstage it. In the future, she would definitely order half the syrup amount. Jason, being a habitual creature, ordered his cortado. He found that the milk was textured well, but the temperature was a bit too high (for a more detailed explanation as to why this is important, check out James Hoffman’s explanation here). The shot tasted like a more traditional cup of coffee; bitter and ready to wake you up.

Cleary, the atmosphere is this shop’s specialty. And the fact that it hosts a separate, private conference room that’s available to rent out ahead solidifies this shop as hangout/work spot. Further, they offered a dedicated kid’s menu to make sure everyone feels welcome! We can’t wait to visit this shop again to slow down and catch up. Until next time!
